The first floor of the Discovery Building features a large atrium divided into four open court spaces that can be reserved individually or as a group. It features abundant natural light and versatile setup options with comfortable couches and chairs available for casual seating. The space is suitable for large expositions, receptions, banquets and poster sessions, and can be available as part of a larger event or as a standalone reception site.

With 40,000 square feet available, the main floor of the Discovery Building can accommodate up to 1,200 people. The first floor of the building is a central space where campus, community and industry gather to celebrate idea sharing through conferences, poster sessions, banquets, receptions, lectures & more. The Discovery Building is also home to twin research institutes, the private Morgridge Institute for Research and the public Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID). Their private-public collaboration helps facilitate breakthrough discoveries to advance health and well-being.
